Linate is 35 km from the Fiera — 30–40 minutes by car. By metro: M4 to San Babila, change to M1 toward Rho Fiera, roughly 45–60 minutes. It's not bad, honestly, if you're staying light. The M4 is newer and relatively quick.
Bergamo BGY is where it gets longer: 55 km to the Fiera, 45–60 minutes by private transfer. Public transport means the Orio Express bus to Centrale (1 hour) plus M1 — 1.5–2 hours door to exhibition hall. BGY is Ryanair's main Italian base, so a lot of Design Week visitors from the UK and Ireland land there. Factor in the extra transit time when planning your arrival day.
Getting to the Fiera from Anywhere in Milan
Metro M1 (Red Line) — direction Rho Fiera Milano. The last stop on that line is directly at the exhibition grounds. Signs at every M1 station point you there during the fair. It's genuinely the most reliable way if you're already in the city.
Peak periods during Design Week: expect crowded carriages especially in the morning (09:00–11:00) and early evening (17:30–19:30). Private transfer avoids all of that if you're on a tight schedule.
