What to See in Portofino

The harbour is the thing. The cluster of ochre and terracotta facades around the natural inlet is one of the most photographed spots on the Italian coast. The best time to be there is before 10am, when the day-tripper boats from Rapallo and Santa Margherita haven't yet arrived and you can sit at a harbour café without a queue.

The path up to Castello Doria takes about 20 minutes on cobbled steps from the harbour. Entry costs €6.
